- Bump of Chicken
- 4 members - Composer / lyricist / guitarist / vocalist Motoo Fujiwara, guitarist Hiroaki Masukawa, bassist Yoshifumi Naoi, and drummer Hideo Masu.
- The 4 members have known each another since they were small children, and first performed together in 9th grade at their school's cultural festival in 1994. They released their first official album, "Flame Vein," five years later in 1999.

- Many of Bump of Chicken's songs have been featured in anime and games. "Sailing Day" is the ending theme for the anime film "One Piece: Dead End Adventure," "Karma" is the is the main theme for the game "Tales of the Abyss," "Tomodachi no Uta" is the ending theme for the anime film "Doraemon: Nobita and the Steel Troops -- Winged Angels," "Hello World!" is the opening theme for the anime "Blood Blockade Battlefront," and "Zero" is the opening theme for the game "Final Fantasy Type-0." In addition, the song "Arue" on their first album "Flame Vein" in 1999 is a tribute to the character Rei Ayanami from the anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion."
- Awards: In 1996, prior to releasing their first album, Bump of Chicken won an award on 96TFM for their song "Danny." The first single of theirs to reach the Oricon Weekly Charts was "Tentai Kansoku" in 2001, and since then every one of their releases has reached the Oricon Weekly Chart's top 10.
- Bump of Chicken's name supposedly means "cowards strike back."
