• Title: Manatsu no Wakusei (真夏の惑星)
  • Artist: chay

"Manatsu no Wakusei" is part of chay's newest album, chayTEA. This song is a celebration of the excitement, exhilaration, and healing power of summer. Even when we've suffered a bad breakup, the lyrics remind us, summer will come sooner or later; and in the summer we can rediscover ourselves and bathe in loving sunshine. In the summer, according to chay, everyone is a main character.

This theme of after-breakup healing and renewal continues in the song's MV as chay heads out to the countryside for some R&R with her girlfriends. The simple pleasures depicted in the MV for "Manatsu no Wakusei" (as well as the home-camera look of the film) evoke the nostalgia of childhood summer vacation at the same time as the group's fashionably outdoorsy clothing and somewhat improbable decorative lights capture the ideal of a millennial camping trip. The combination is surprisingly charming: viewers may find that they have a sudden urge to buy a tent, a sunhat, and a bag of marshmallows!

From August 1st to August 19th, 2017, chay will be on her chayTEA Tour, which stops in Sendai, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo.
