TOKYO GIRL” is the newest single from Perfume and it has been featured on the popular TV series “Tokyo Tarareba Musume” (東京タラレバ娘) as the main theme song. The MV features Perfume members escalating in an elevator in a mighty tall skyscraper, watching over the scenery in Tokyo as people run with little pyramid shaped objects in their hands. These little glowing pyramids represent the repressed and forgotten dreams of the people, which is why the little pyramids are not lit up in the beginning, when people are still oblivious to their dreams. Perfume’s song brings people into realization, and as their dreams ‘light up’, people begin to run, to place the dreams in the right place – to make a miracle happen.

All the while, Perfume sings about the importance of staying positive even in the chaotic urban jungle that is Tokyo, and even though all may seem amiss, one must go on. The lyrics talk about keeping yourself happy, dressing up and singing and falling in love, but if you listen closely, there is a message that tells one to follow their dreams, to “reach out with all your might”.

Perfume’s concert, “Perfume FES!! 2017” will be held in Chiba on June 3rd, 2017.
